The Duke Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition is involved in a number of basic science research programs that further the understanding of diabetes, endocrine disorders, metabolism, and nutrition. The Hirschey Lab in the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute, Christopher B. Newgard, PhD, is Founding Director of the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. He is also the Director of the Sarah W. Stedman Nutrition and Metabolism Center and the W. David and Sarah W. Stedman Distinguished Professor, with faculty appointments in the Pharmacology and Cancer Biology and Medicine Departments. CiteScore: 9.9 ℹ CiteScore: 2019: 9.9 CiteScore measures the average citations received per peer-reviewed document published in this title. CiteScore values are based on citation counts in a range of four years (e.g. 2016-2019) to peer-reviewed documents (articles, reviews, conference papers, data papers and book chapters) published in the same four calendar years, divided by the number of 1 Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) CSIC-IRTA-UAB-UB, 08193 Barcelona, Spain.

Scope Molecular Genetics and Metabolism contributes to the understanding of the metabolic and molecular basis of disease. This peer reviewed journal publishes articles describing investigations that use the tools of biochemical genetics and molecular genetics for studies of normal and disease states in humans and animal models. Nutrition and Metabolism Obesity, type 2 diabetes, gut disorders and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's are an increasing challenge to the wellbeing of our communities. The links between nutrition, metabolism and human health are complex.

Metabolic danger‐associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as LDL cholesterol, fatty acids, and hyperglycemia induce trained immunity. Thus, immune cells may be primed or “trained” by metabolic DAMPs exposure which up‐ or down‐regulates innate immune cell activity. Current molecular nutrition and metabolism research aims to gain insights into the physiological role of nutrients and food components on health status at molecular and cellular levels. Despite the significant amount of research conducted around this subject, the real impact of most food compounds and their mechanisms of action have not yet been fully elucidated. Metabolism varies, depending on age, gender, activity level, fuel consumption, and lean body mass. Your own metabolic rate fluctuates throughout life. By modifying your diet and exercise regimen, you can increase both lean body mass and metabolic rate.
EditorialOpen access. The Committee on Molecular Metabolism and Nutrition (CMMN) is a dynamic and interactive research unit of the University of Chicago, offering interdisciplinary doctoral training in the molecular basis of biological processes as they relate to metabolic homeostasis, nutritional status and human disease. Molecular Metabolism is committed to serving as a platform reporting breakthrough discoveries in energy homeostasis and in the etiology, development, treatment and associated health consequences of metabolic disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. 2004-08-17 · Nutrition & Metabolism welcomes contributions in all areas of research in which nutrition interacts with biochemistry and molecular biology. Emphasis will be on the molecular, biochemical, and physiologic understanding of various metabolic pathways. Nutrition & Metabolism has launched a special issue on Precision Nutrition.Co-guest-edited by Dr Martha Field and Dr Anna Thalacker-Mercer from University of Cornell in the USA, the special issue is dedicated to improving our knowledge in precision nutrition and involves the following topics. 2009-03-20 · Additionally, AA are key precursors for syntheses of hormones and low-molecular weight nitrogenous substances with each having enormous biological importance.

The Center for Biomedical Discovery's metabolism and molecular nutrition biomedical research platform provides new mechanistic insights into metabolic-based diseases and how they might be treated by: Improving understanding of the basic regulatory mechanisms underlying systems that supply energy to the cell, organs and whole body
The Committee on Molecular Metabolism and Nutrition is a dynamic and interactive research unit of the University of Chicago offering interdisciplinary doctoral training in the molecular basis of biological processes as they relate to nutrition and human disease. Our research primarily focuses on the following areas: 1) the molecular mechanisms underlying adipose tissue dysfunction in obesity and during aging, 2) the molecular mechanisms by which dietary components regulate energy metabolism and prevent metabolic diseases, and 3) the dietary regulation of aging and aging-related metabolic diseases.
